Wednesday, April 5th (Modified Day B)
Special Schedule for SAT
Period 5 12:24 – 1:12 PM
Period 6 1:19 – 2:05 PM
The eleventh grade Connecticut State-mandated assessment is the SAT in the areas of language arts (reading and writing) and mathematics. The assessments are designed to measure current levels of student performance in relation to state standards and college and career readiness. By virtue of our educational program, which incorporates state standards and high expectations, our students are well prepared for this assessment.
The required date for testing of all 11th graders is the morning of Wednesday, April 5, 2017 with make up dates of April 25 and 26, 2017 for those who miss testing due to illness. More information will follow regarding an adjusted schedule for April 5, 2017.
The information gained from the SAT is part of each child’s academic record and is one of the ways which students can meet NCHS graduation requirements in reading and math. In addition to providing schools with information about student achievement, similar to the CAPT of the past, SAT performance levels and participation rates will be used as sources of comparative data for schools and districts statewide.
The state and individual districts remain accountable for achieving a federally established guideline of 95% participation. Please do all that you can to ensure your child is present and on time for the assessment. As these are State-mandated assessments, all 11th grade students are expected to take the exam. Students who do not want their results reported beyond the State may cancel their scores following the assessment so that the score will only be reportable for the State’s purposes but will not be become part of that student’s College Board record.
We encourage you to help your child view the upcoming testing in a positive way – as an opportunity to demonstrate what they know and are able to do. Ensuring your child is well rested and that he/she has a healthy breakfast are examples of how you can be supportive.
