K-4 Social Studies
The New Canaan K-12 Social Studies program, in alignment with state and national standards, is designed to ensure all students develop the knowledge and skills related to being a well-educated citizen of the contributing school, community, U.S., and world.
In New Canaan we believe that inquiry is at the heart of social studies instruction. Social studies is composed of deep and enduring understandings, concepts, and skills from several disciplines. Social studies education also has direct and explicit connections to the Common Core State Standards for English/language arts and literacy in history/social studies.
